X FACTOR Jewelry
- Comes With The Feel Good Factor.
by Kacy Carr
Jewelry will forever excite just
like it has in days gone by. Take the cave man adorned with ivory molars
dangling from his neck or his mammoth tusk hanging from his waist. Then we have
another fine example for finery the Indian chief sitting so brave attired in
colored feathers and beads of every color of the rainbow running through his
braided plaits.
It has taken millions of years for us to come to our senses and narrow down the
amount of jewelry we wear. In saying that piercing of the body where you can end
up looking like a voodoo doll is still very popular. What you have to remember
is, to much of a good thing can spoil your image therefore taking the beauty
away from your ornate piece. Bling diamond sparkling rings along side gold bulky
sovereigns are not a match made in heaven.
Remember to many cooks spoil the broth.
Beauty behind Jewelry
How elegant exquisite precious stones sparkle more when mounted on a 9ct warm
gold band and how Signet rings for men express a more strong masculine
appearance.
Items of Jewelry no matter the size will always hold some meaning or have a
story behind it sentimental happy or sad.
RINGS
The mystery that lurks behind how the ring was titled with names such as the
eternity, engagement and wedding band will always remain a mystery.
Marriage vows become finalized with an exchange of gold wedding bands. Be sure
to choose this ring with care as this piece which bonds two people together is
for life. (Sadly not in all cases)
Before buying Jewelry get it right because wrong choice wrong image wrong you.
EARRINGS
What happened to one earring to each ear, today earrings are layered down the
lobe in sequence which can be quite eye catching, even when pierced through the
nose/nipple or belly button.
Women today are only half dressed unless wearing jewelry. Pierced ears seem to
dominate and hold a stronger presence over the clip or screw on. No matter your
chosen outfit watch it transform when the gypsy dangler or Grace Kelly pearl
peeper is placed onto the lobe
History behind time
How the concrete garden sundial went from the garden to the pendulum swinging
grandfather clock in the hall only to be halved in size to stand on the mantle.
There has been a dramatic change in the way we tell time today. When buying a
watch choose wisely as this is worn and on show for all to see more frequently
than most Jewelry items.
Jewelry speaks volumes about a person's personality so do not damage yours by
making the wrong choice. Take a friend with you when shopping for gold or silver
this way you can seek advice if you need it.
Jewelry has to be top of most peoples gift list for birthdays Christmas
anniversary's retirement etc. For those people celebrating these special dates
why not make that day extra special for them by giving a piece of Jewelry.
They say all that glitters is not
gold. Not true. Check out this fabulous site and prove them wrong.Trendy to suit
all mood Jewelry. Guaranteed to bring a little sparkle into your life.

How to Care For
Your Gold Jewelry.
by Brenda H. Murphy
As a precious metal, gold
represents less work to maintain its appearance than other metals, such as
silver. Gold does not tarnish, smudge, or discolor, but it can become dulled by
contact with soaps, perspiration, hand creams and other substances from your
daily life.
A good rule of thumb, is to wash
your hands before putting on, or taking off, gold jewelry. This prevents
contamination with natural body oils and other matter that your hands have
touched. Also, if youre going to be wearing perfume, creams, lotions or other
chemical substances, put them on before your jewelry. Gold items will be dulled
and dirty from lying on skin that is still moist with make-up, or if they are in
the line of fire from hairspray.
Always be sure to remove your
rings before immersing your hands in the dishwater or laundry. Repeated exposure
to harsh chemicals like chlorine, can permanently damage the golds luster. That
also means removing rings when using swimming pools.
Store gold jewelry that you arent
wearing, in their original boxes, or clean, cloth bags in a drawer away from
other jewelry. Never leave pieces jumbled together in a box, as they can scratch
each other, particularly if they happen to be set with hard gemstones. Even
wrapping each piece in plain tissue paper, will preserve the surface and the
shine.
The gold portions of jewelry can
be cleaned with a mild soap solution and a soft cloth for polishing. A used,
soft-bristled toothbrush may be helpful in reaching small crevices such as the
links of a chain, or the underside of settings in a ring.

Current Fashion
Trends in Costume Jewelry and Accessories.
by Michael Gietl
Color Trends in Costume
Jewelry
The fall fashion trends are
ushering in another excellent season for costume jewelry and accessories. Rich
colors and bold looks dominate the trend. Teal, amber and amethyst are the
important colors with olivine and green used as neutrals. Topaz and peacock are
also important and all indications are that rich color will continue into the
spring season. Metals are seeing a return to gold, but silver is still stronger.
Bold Designs Dominate Fashion
Jewelry
Fashion jewelry thrives when bold
designs are in vogue and that is very much the case this season. The high
fashion look is popular in necklaces, earrings, and bracelets with natural
components contributing to the designs. Wood is continuing its second season of
popularity with shell important even in the fall line. But the rising star in
natural materials is gemstone, which provides the beauty of natural semiprecious
stones to the costume jewelry designs. This will definitely continue and
accelerate in the spring line. Also popular in neckwear are 48 inch and 60 inch
ropes that are worn extended or doubled. Jet is strong in holiday jewelry and
estate looks (antique designs) are becoming fashionable in bridal jewelry.
Traditional Costume Jewelry
and Accessories
While costume jewelry in bold
designs and rich colors forge the way for leading fashion, there is a larger
market that shouldnt be ignored in more traditional and classic looks. Theme
jewelry in pendants, earrings, and charm bracelets has an appeal that goes
beyond fashion alone because it identifies with what the wearer cares about. In
addition, traditional rhinestone, bridal jewelry, evening bags, and formal
gloves have a classic look with timeless appeal. There is a major market for
these items that will always be present even as fashion changes.
Accessory Trends
Sequins and buttons are very big
in all accessories, especially in handbags and evening bags. Beyond these, the
looks of the larger bags introduced by leading designers are the trendy styles
of the season. These are the bags the stars are carrying, which goes a long ways
towards popularizing the styles. In evening bags, large sequins and buttons are
very much in vogue, but traditional looks seem to be carrying the day.
Sunglasses are definitely big and
bold with aviators the runaway favorite. Retro looks are also excellent and
colored frames with matching lenses are very popular.
Hats and Headwear
In millinery, dress hats are an
important part of the market, with ladies hats the dominant player. The looks
are very traditional with a new element of pre-made bands allowing for the
versatility of custom designs. Casual hats, however, account for the major share
of the market and no design in 2005 is more important than the rollup cowboy
hat. While the design is not popular in every region of the country, the sheer
number of sales makes it the number one hat of the year. This rugged look that
is typically American has risen to such popularity that it becomes an important
fashion statement. After cowboy hats, the three most fashionable designs are
wide brim floppy hats, ladies fedoras, and newsboys. The entertainment field has
played a major roll in popularizing these designs and the fashion looks continue
into the fall season with felt, leather, wool, and leatherette used as the
material for the fall versions.

Insurance - Hints and Tips.

As crime and drug use increases,
the risks involved in having Antique and Estate Jewelry just lying around your
home seem to treble. It becomes a nightmare and you find you are just not sure
what to do.
Here are some timely pieces of
advice, but by no means comprehensive. If you have special circumstances, it may
pay you to go one step further and get some professional advice.
BALANCE AND COMMON SENSE...
If you collect Antique Jewelry
and your collection has grown to more than Just a couple of Rings you will have
a double edged sword to handle. In the first place you have two problems.
* You are an active buyer, so people know who you are.
* Insurance has put Premiums through the roof.
Personally, we just Hate to see items collected and never worn. Jewelry was made
to adorn, so if you can, wear them. But remember this is an open advert to the
whole world that you have Got some Jewelry at Home. It pays to be just a little
aware!
YOUR INSURANCE POLICY...
Your Home and Contents policy
GENERALLY does NOT cover your personal Jewelry over a certain amount (this
varies from company to company). Plus if you had to claim, the Insurance company
may take a premium from you (say $100) which they would DEDUCT from the final
payout.
The remaining value may not cover
one item in your collection, yet alone the sentimental value associated with
your personal favorites.
So you will have to list all of
the items individually and get an Insurance Valuation Appraisal Certificate as
well.
Because Sentimental value does
not apply, only the replacement costs, you will have to ensure your qualified
gemologist/jeweler/valuer understands why you are having an appraisal done in
the first place.
This can get expensive as
professional appraisals typically cost a flat Take-in price of around $20 to $30
dollars plus a sliding scale fee of approximately one percent of the final
value.
In an item is valued around $1000
dollars, that fee is $10 + $20 take-in or $30 plus (sometimes much higher).
This is just for ONE item.
Valuation Appraisals can cost up to $60 dollars or more so if you have a small
collection, you may need a small fortune just to keep up with current prices.
The BIGGER your collection - The
B I G G E R your cost!
But if you dont want a great
outlay, you might just take advantage of the useful Do-it-Yourself Online
Jewelry Self Appraisal Kit at the Online Jewelry Appraisal Center at the address
shown below, which is a great alternative.
This ONLINE database system
calculates everything for you and prints out a descriptive Certificate and is
hundreds of times more accurate and thorough than your local high street
jewelers scribbled letterhead.
At such a low fee its money well
spent. Indeed, if you just purchased something on eBay or Yahoo auctions, for
example, you might wish to just confirm an approximate value by using this easy
to use DIY Jewelry Valuation Appraisal Kit. Suppose you recently bought
something from a local Dealer, on the Market or Antique Fair, why not get it
checked. Whats the worst that could happen? For less than the price of a Big Mac
and Coke its a Bargain, plus there are many other advantages to having your
Jewelry done at the Online Jewelry Appraisal Center.
Your appraisal valuations should
be re-done every couple of years as the price of Gold and Silver changes, as
does the price of Diamonds and Gemstones and Antiques in particular.
We do offer an excellent reminder
service to anyone who completes a Do-it-Yourself Online Jewelry Self Appraisal
Kit with us. This alone is worth the small fee as it relieves you of the
problem.
But remember that if your Jewelry
is lost or stolen, the insurance cover will only help replace your treasure with
something of COMPARABLE value.
It cant buy you sentiment and it
cant buy you another Georgian Chatelaine to exactly replace the one you had. You
may be able to get another Similar item though, and that is better than the few
dollars or so, you may have received from the Homeowners policy.
It pays to have an up-to-date
Certificate. I cant stress that enough.
If in doubt, talk with your
trusted Insurance Company.
But even if its just for Peace of
mind, the small price (less than a Cinema Ticket) is well worth the effort.
Its a No-Brainer really.

The Glitter
Bitter JEWELRY.
by Kacy Carr
Jewelry the dominator of many
moods, how a piece of body decoration can change and alter a persons image is
remarkable? Take the birth stone a coloured precious jewel representing the
month you were born hence birth signs horoscopes etc. Then we have the pendant
locket encompassing a photo of a loved one parted or present.
100% top of the list for
popularity has to be the ring.
Many organizations symbolize
memberships and identities of their followers with the wearing of a ring. But
the most famous piece of warm gold or cool silver is the wedding band with the
eternity and engagement ring trailing behind. Why you ask? Do these lag behind;
they both represent friendship and togetherness, unlike the gold wedding band
which goes further in bonding two people together for ever.
Diamonds are a girls best friend
and that of the man also. The male takes fashion and Jewelry just as serious as
the female species and why would they not.
How a pair of pearl peepers
placed onto the lobe of the ear can transform that figure hugging little black
number. Glimpse how the bronze medallion swinging between an open neck shirt can
transform the appearance of the male. When buying Jewelry remember, wrong choice
wrong image wrong you so be careful and take your time when deciding on what to
purchase.
Most heirlooms today come in the
form of Jewelry, grandmothers cameo brooch, grandads cuff links mum or dads
wedding ring. Jewelry will always hold fond memories for a great many of us and
its funny how you never forget where that particular piece came from. So if you
want to be remembered give a piece of Jewelry
Then we have the not so sweet
memories when the glitter turns to bitter (Divorce)
Bling Bling clusters of sparkling
precious stones assist and help elegance to protrude through especially when
mounted on a 9ct gold band. Mans signet ring can alter the image of the male
hand expressing masculinity
The male/female is only half
dressed unless adorned with jewellery. Next time when shopping in a Jewelry
store do not go over the top like Mr T from the A team. Too many accessories
will spoil the whole look of any outfit thus marring your whole image.
If you are out to attract the
opposite sex or keep the companion you have then it is all about beauty.
Remember beauty lies in the eye of the beholder so let the beholder be you when
looking for gold or silver.
Jewelry speaks in volumes about
you and your personality so we do not want to give the wrong impression. Let the
diamonds emeralds sapphires and rubies do all the talking. People will get to
know you with out you even opening your mouth.
Kacy Says, the best thing that has ever happened to me is when I started to
write articles it was a new venture in my life when I made the descision to go
down this route. But a descision I was never to look back on. More about this on
my information page.
