Finding Unique Birthday Gifts.
by
Mike Hamilton
Finding
a unique birthday gift can be one of the most
challenging, frustrating and rewarding things you will
ever do. When your loved one’s eyes light up with that
expression that tells you “I never even knew I wanted
this but now I wouldn’t trade it for all the money in
the world.”
If you
haven’t had that experience then it is hard to put
into words how wonderful it makes you feel. If you
approach it as a chore or something you need to do
then you will never find the perfect and unique
birthday gift.
One
mistake that a lot of people make is trying to find a
unique gift and then deciding if it is something the
person will like. This sometimes ends up being akin to
trying to fit a round peg in a square hole.
Think
about what you are celebrating then find something
that honors that celebration. If you are celebrating
the friendship you share with that person then shop
with that in mind. Think about the things you have
shared with each other.
If you
have been on fishing trips together then contemplate
those trips and what made them enjoyable. If it is
simply the quite times sharing ideas and thoughts over
coffee then let those memories come flooding back.
The
best gifts are the most personal. What makes the gift
unique is the uniqueness of the person you are
shopping for and not the gift itself.
If this
method of choosing a gift seems like it takes more
effort then it seems it is worth then maybe the
problem is that you need to examine why you are
concerned that you find a perfect and unique birthday
present.
If the
motive is that you really want them to open it and
just share the joy they are going to feel then it
should be a pretty easy exercise. If the motive is
what you can get out of it besides joy then it is a
chore that is could very well be among the toughest
you have ever tackled.
Ralph
Parlette, the author of “The University of Hard
Knocks”, is quoted as saying, “Real birthdays are not
annual affairs. Real birthdays are the days when we
have a new birth.”
The
wise words of Parlette say what I am saying much more
eloquently than I can. If you choose to celebrate the
birth of your relationship in addition to the annual
affair you will find that you have taken the first and
most important step in finding a the perfect and
unique birthday gift.
Make
the day, a day that you share in and are a part of and
you will find that the search will be much easier.
Become a participant, not a spectator and your search
is just about over and a fruitful search it will be.
At our
website we offer a mini-website for honoring birthdays
where you can post pictures, poems, or memories. After
all memories are what they are celebrating, shouldn’t
that be your celebration as well.

3 Little Known Tips for Buying a
Birthday Gift.
by Tim
Jeffries
Be
honest- are you one of those people who waits to the
very last minute to buy a birthday gift? Me too. Lets
just say that both of our lives are so busy that we
usually dont have time until the last minute to do the
shopping that we need to. Fear not: the advent of the
internet revolution allows a lot more flexibility and
now this isnt necessarily a bad thing. Ecommerce
allows 24 hour real time shopping for your favorite
merchandise (including birthday gifts). Here are 3
strategies to getting a great birthday gift at a good
price.
1)Comparisons can do you well. Once you settle on a
birthday gift, run it through the search engines to
make sure you are getting a deal. Ive literally saved
up to 60% on some items just by picking it out from
one merchant and then doing a price comparison from
other merchants. Not all birthday gifts are priced the
same (even if they are identical).
2)Search engines are your friend. All of them. If you
are like the majority of the internet crowd (including
myself), Google is where you search for everything.
And most of the time, it is excellent. However, the
merchants optimizing their sites for high Google
rankings are numerous and competition is fierce for
the top spots. Just because a site has the top spot on
Google, doesnt mean that that is the best website for
what you are looking for. Try Yahoo and MSN. On a lot
of occasions Ive found better merchandise (including
birthday gifts) on Yahoo and MSN search. Im not sure
why, it just adds to the selection of stuff Im looking
for. You are the birthday gift shopper, look around to
all the engines for a variety of results.
3)Know
how to look for a unique birthday gift. You can look
all you want for birthday gifts, but if yours is the
same as everyone elses, you might come out looking a
little funny or gasp!...even...uncreative. In fact,
points #1 and #2 are completely irrelevant if you end
up with the same gift as everyone else. Learn how to
look for a unique gift and stand out from the crowd.

5 Tips For Choosing Gifts.
by
Tracy Billings
We all
love to receive gifts, whether its at Christmas or
birthdays, or even a special anniversary. But in order
to keep getting gifts, we have to give them to others
too. And happily we like that part of the bargain
almost as much as the receiving bit. Here are a few
tips that may help you choose the right gift for the
right person.
1. To
help make up your mind you can easily read reviews of
gifts you are considering buying at places like
Amazon.com, Buy.com, Epinions.com, BizRate.com, etc.
And of course, you can even purchase from there too.
2.
Price comparison for gifts is easy if youre switching
between sites like Shopping.com, PriceGrabber.com and
Cnet.com. The lowest gift price is out there. All you
have to do is find it.
3. One
problem with gifts that are wearable is getting the
right size. You can overcome this by getting gift
accessories, such as scarves, belts, hats, etc.
4. Its
obvious, but keeping an up to date list of the
birthday, anniversary, etc, dates of your friends and
relatives will mean that youll always know when its
time to buy a gift. That way, youll probably receive
more gifts too when its your turn.
5.
Always think about the recipient of the gift. Your
maiden aunt is unlikely to appreciate a years
subscription to a risqué glamour magazine, and your
young nephew probably doesnt really want a pair of
socks.
Gifts
should not be just for Christmas and birthdays. Theres
no reason why you cant give a special gift to someone
special just because you want to at any time of the
year. It does wonders for a persons self esteem, and
it does wonders for you too: we all really love to
give. I hope you can find the time to give to someone
today.

How to find the perfect Birthday Gift.
by
Claire Calkin
Most of
us frequently - if not all the time - are short of
good birthday gift ideas. Regardless of who the
intended recipient is, whether it is a brother,
sister, mum, dad, grandparent or in-law, often we all
end up frantically searching through shopping malls
for the elusive perfect birthday gift. All too often
unfortunately, all these stores seem to stock only
products that fall into one of three categories - they
are either unsuitable, overpriced or impractical.
So when
you are looking for birthday gift ideas it can help to
bear in mind the following points. Firstly, does the
recipient deserve the efforts you are going to find
them a gift? If they are a passing acquaintance or you
find them disagreeable, then perhaps a gift is not
necessary. If the person does deserve a gift, you
should determine to what extent you want to go to for
them. Are they worthy of you trudging through a
crowded shopping mall for? Quite often, the quest for
good birthday gift ideas can take longer than
initially envisioned, so it is important that you only
extent this for gifts for the people most important to
you.
DETERMINING SUITABLE BIRTHDAY GIFT IDEAS Often, before
setting out on a shopping expedition to the mall, or
online, it is good to have a think about your intended
recipient. What are their interests? Have they been
dropping any subtle hints about something they may
particularly want or need? In some cases, you are
geographically distant from the recipient, so it may
be hard to determine quite what they may be looking
for in a gift. However generally you will have at
least a rudimentary knowledge of the person interests
and what they like. You should also determine prior
what your budget is for the gift, and stick to this.
While you are likely to see otherwise suitable gifts
outside of your budget, you should stick to your
original budget lest exceeding it should cause
consternation.
When it
comes to choosing from different gifts you should
always consider whether the item in question is most
suited to your recipient. Some of the questions to ask
of the prospective gift include, Is it in some way
useful? Could it bring the recipient enjoyment? And
perhaps most importantly, is it something I would like
to receive myself? If the gift meets these criteria
and fits within the budget, then chances are it is
entirely suitable.
VOUCHERS / MONEY VERSUS GIFTS Many people tend to give
vouchers or money rather than a physical gift. The
reasoning behind this is that it allows the recipient
to spend the money as they see fit on a gift that they
will surely like. The advantages for the gift giver is
that it is a somewhat faster process than trudging
through a mall trying to locate a suitable physical
gift, and they can console themselves with the thought
that they have given something of true value to the
recipient. In many cases however, the reverse of these
objectives is achieved. Often, the recipient may -
while grateful for a gift in the first place - may
consider voucher or money as the easy way out, in that
the person who gave them the item did not think it
worth the time or effort to locate a physical gift.
The reality is, once received, money and vouchers are
rather easily dispensed with, and for the recipient it
is difficult to relate the fruits of the money or
vouchers to the person
This
said, certainly there are places for the gifting or
money or vouchers - specifically to those located
abroad or who are otherwise geographically distant.
BUY IN
ADVANCE The reasons to buy presents in advance greatly
out weight the reasons not to. When you begin
preparing for birthdays and Christmas at the start of
the year you can buy presents that are less expensive,
more thought out, less stressful experiences and more
time to relax. If you leave present shopping until a
few days before, you will have to pay the price the
retailer asks for a particular item instead of buying
it when it was on sale a few months earlier.
Especially with Christmas, this season can be
stressful and it takes time and money to buy all the
presents required in only a few days. Waiting in long
queues is no fun either. It is ideal to buy presents
ahead as you can spend more time on this present, less
money and get them something they will really
appreciate. It is great to shop around over the course
of year to find gifts to suit everyone in your family.
You can buy them on sale then store them safely away
in the closet until it is time to bring them out.

Tips for Getting that Perfect Gift!
So
there you are, its that time again. Its another
occasion where you need get a gift for someone that
already has everything. You know, like how many
candles can I get her? Or how many times can I keep
giving them a bottle of wine? We all have been there
and beat our heads against the wall to try and figure
out what do I give this time. Whether its the dreaded
baby shower, or house warming, or the even usual
birthday celebration, you are stuck with the daunted
task of giving a gift that will show them what you
meant to them.
Sometimes it can be quite annoying and frustrating. We
all go through the same routine. Where do we head
first? We head to the mall and walk around aimlessly
hoping that the perfect gift will just pop out and hit
us on the head. Sadly, this never happens and we come
home with a card and some hokey gift package.
Gives
me chills just thinking about it. Then we start
thinking of excuses of why we cannot attend the event.
Lets not even get into that, it can get quite amusing
of the things we can come up with.
Well, I
hope the following tips can help you get through this
situation and allow you to enjoy all celebrations of
life and not have to worry about what to get.
Thoughtfulness
Number
one thing to do is know what the person likes. If you
can figure this out, you are home free. Whether its
golf, cooking, or even some TV show, you are set. This
will show the person you know them well and have put
some great care and thoughtfulness in picking out
their gift.
Uniqueness
So you
figured out what they like. Great, now you need to be
unique. Yes, uniqueness is the key to that perfect
gift. Well what makes a gift unique? The answer if
personalization! Yes, you can take any normal gift and
make it unique by personalizing it. The person could
have many picture frames, but do they have one with a
special photo that you have of them? Or do they have a
frame that has inscribed on it their name? You get
what I mean? You can pretty much take a simple gift
and take it to the next level just by adding that
extra touch. There are many places now that sell
common gifts and can personalize them to your needs.
So the

him/her", go for a thoughtful and unique gift and make
it personalized!
